PLASTER MOLD PROJECT
For my plaster sculpture, titled 'Go With The Flow', I wanted to evoke a feeling of calmness from the viewer. I wanted a smooth, soft, and unified shape that the viewer would understand soon after gazing upon it. Although it's simple, the value shown under the right lighting changes throughout the day, and is almost a metaphor for human life. Life changes, from day to day to season to season, just go with the flow as it comes.

The steps for this project included molding chicken wire, powdered plaster mixed with water, square small pieces of burlap mixed in with the plaster, and then I sanded down the entire piece to achieve the desired smoothness that I wanted. FINAL PIECEI enjoyed this project the most out of the three projects we completed in this class. It was really rewarding to see how much work went into this, and how it looked at the final part.
The only thing I would change about this project is that I would redo the ball part that I originally had in my sketches. The ball that was supposed to be in the middle of my piece was too lumpy and I didn't have enough time to make it the way I wanted it to look. Although, when I did place it in the middle at the end, I think that the feeling of calmness was disrupted, so it worked out well in the end that the ball didn't turn out how I wanted it to! |
